Cheapest place to buy an f3 in Canada or the US?

Hey guys,

I'm looking to buy a body only and was wondering where people got good deals or discounts. I'm in Toronto, but either the us or Canada is good. Please pm if you have an advice where to buy.

For the hassle, IMO, I would stick to purchasing something like a camera to Canada, are you say you are based in TO. If you buy in the US, you need to pay shipping, duties, taxes, etc. Plus not to mention warranty wise you need to deal with Sony US if you have an issue. So then you need to ship it there, etc, more hassle.
The price of the cdn F3 is pretty much the same as the US pricing, then you don't need to worry about the headaches and logistics of said issues.

For price, call around, cdn dealers are trying to be competitive.
 
Authorized Sony US dealers of the PMW-F3 series of cameras have a contract with Sony where we can't ship cameras outside of the US and they have a program price which we can't discount below.
 
Thanks for the info guys. Very useful, I think I will just buy it locally then. I wasn't aware about the price being set and they are not allowed to lower it. I will either buy it locally or find one on the used market. Looking forward to having one in my hands.
 
Although there may no flexibility on the camera price there may be in a package. So, if you were buying a fully outfitted system it would be worthwhile putting it out to bid.
 
The pro side of Vistek sells the F3. The office is in Toronto I believe. There are other dealers sprinkled around Canada. If you have problems finding one in Toronto you could always phone Sony Canada yourself and get the official dealers. That's what I did. BTW some dealers may tell you they cannot sell out of their region, even if it is being sold in Canada. This is bunk. The Head of Sales for Sony Canada told me they can sell to anyone they want in Canada without violating sales agreements.
