Does anyone know which reputable dealer has the best price for the JVC100 right now?

Also, anyone trying to sell theirs?

There's a dealer near me (greater Detroit area), but they don't carry the 100....

Thanks for any help in this....
John

authorized dealers 4 JVC

Thanks Barry....

Beyond the battery pack, are there any other "must haves" for the JVC (besides another lens)?

Any other good rates out there?

Is there a list of reputable/authorized dealers for JVC products?

Thanks again,
John

I should defer to current HD100 owners for answers, as they've had it much longer than I had it. Obviously you'll need tapes and a head cleaner and a case or bag, I'd recommend a firestore if you're worried about dropouts, and a battery system is nearly a must. Talk to Nate Weaver (I think it was Nate; it's fuzzy now); he found some 5-hour v-mount batteries for under $200 somewhere. You'd still need a v-mount charger and those aren't cheap, but two of those batteries should make for a viable power system.

Hi jdv - I know its a bit more expensive compared to other packs but if you can afford it, have a look at the IDX solution that was designed for the HD100. Very nice charging system - batteries are lasting us 3 - 4 hours, the unit is designed to carry the Fire Store, we also run an IDX camera light via D-Tap to the unit - all in all a very nice package. Do make sure that you get a good dealer...

As far as the lens is concerned - its fine, plenty folks are making all kinds of projects with it with no worries... we have made 6 commercials to date with it under a range of lighting conditions, and while we do come across the odd CA and Breathing issues - its easy enough to work around.

All the best with your purchase....

What about the UK? Anyone got any good prices?

Best i can find is £3020+VAT for the HD100 (not HD101).

Hi John - We have had 2 cameras and we had no issues with SSE, appears that you had it worse in the states than here in the UK hence the reason I would recommend you stick with a good dealer. One advert we just completed for a Whisky company used a lot of black across the screen, very moody lighting and log fire close ups - SSE was nowhere to be found, we shot another advert with a light coloured background - No SSE to be found... however, under certain conditions we have managed to get it - i.e for example in deep shadow areas (we are using a High Res monitor to view) but simply by re-focusing/iris change/WB change - it goes(the software does a re-calculation). Once again I cannot stress enough that it is not an issue that is not easily overcome - enjoy your purchase, make some great movies.

Hi mmm - That's a good price, however If we were to buy an hd100/101 now... I would still be inclined to make sure I had faith in the dealer, even if it costs a little more. Until these new HD cams have been around for a good bit we all don't really know how robust they will be (love the "roasting of the hd101" over the fire story... what a great bit of PR that would make), and its nice to know you can call your dealer if a problem crops up... Not trying to put you off mmm, always like a bargain myself, but beware the false economy move on equipment like this. During the time our first hd101 went down with a software glitch our dealer had a replacement to us within 48hours so we could keep working... that's what makes a good dealer worth it, as for other bits and bobs - ebay here we come:grin: . Hope this helps.

Since Optex bit the dust I have been looking for a new dealer. Proactive have really impressed me on the phone and are quite near me. I still need to visit them to check them out though, but all in all, they sound solid.

They are even more far from me and I also purchased there... I had a problem and Phil sent me a firmware update. They are a JVC's official dealer, I wouldn't purchase on a non official one.
