Hi Guys!
I`m very interestet to buy an anamorphic lens to use it with my Video DSLR.
My question is:

Whats the cheapest useable Adapter available? I know they don`t build them anymore but I think if you guys have some tips for me it would help me alot.

I know this small adapter "Cinemorph" from Vid-Atlantic, but it only changes the Bokeh, nut the real Image.

To get a 1:2,35 Image, what kind of Anamorphic Lens (x1.33 or x2) do I need?

I think you'll save yourself a lot of hassle if you just shoot normally and then just crop in post.

I know you don't get the same stretched bokeh and lens flare/streaking but it's so much easier and cheaper. What if you want to do a rack focus? Or shoot with a really long lens?

Keep in mind that, unless you regularly have films shown in a cinema, most of your stuff will be shown on 16:9 screens. So even with anamorphic pixels, it'll just be scaled down to fit the display and look exactly the same (or possibly worse due to aliasing that can be introduced through down-scaling) as if it was just cropped to get the 2.35:1 image.

@ Kowas: Thank you. I thought there is a very cheap way to get those lenses ;-) There is no company that makes them anymore for arround 100 Bucks?

@ deltoidjohn: Well, i crop my 16:9 video to 1:2.35 and I use Optical Flares to get nice Lensflares. But everytime i see DSLR Footage shot with a real AnaLens I feel that the picture is so much cooler and so much more like Close Encounters or Alien. I believe if I use a lens like that it changes the way I shot my movies and sure there is a lot of cons, but the look is incredible.

There have been some inexpensive generic anamorphic lenses that were available on eBay a year and a half ago. Nothing to rave about. Plastic, focus through 1.33 adapters. These were all sold for $115. Then, after that, if you find one of those used on eBay you have to pay $400 now. This may be about the least expensive you can find.
However, from my understanding you are not simply looking for a 2.39:1 ratio that you can get even by cropping. You like the image character of the anamorphic glass (oblong bokeh, organic look, horizontal widening of field of view, streaks and flares). I think you should either look for 2x anamorphic lenses (Kowa, Sankor, Singer, Keihan, Sun, Vidoscope etc.), or for 1.5x ones.
However, I think that both categories are well out of the budget that you have specified.

Thank you. Then I think i have to use ebay to find one. And thank for the Tip with the x2 Ana, i checked some Youtube Vids and they look much better!
