Cheaper Panasonic HD

the first post in that thread is priceless:
"[SIZE=-1][SIZE=-1][SIZE=-1][SIZE=-1][FONT=verdana, arial, helvetica] Hey PAN, you NEED 24p and DEFINITELY CINE-LIKE GAMMA. If your making us wait that long, you also better make it 4:2:2 and a minimum of 100Mbs. Then you'll have a chance to take business back.

Hope you listened!!!!!!!!"

Prototype thing.

I know what you are saying my friend, well september isnt far off i'd expect a mini HVX using AVC-HD sounds like a cool concept to me. :)

infact i am getting a feeling this is what later became the HVX may be Barry or Jarred can shed some light on this.

Think of it as an HVX fetus. The concept was there, but the birth was far in the distance.

If fetus offends anyone feel free to substitute the word stemcell. :)
See? I went from disgusting to political... which is a very fine line, my friend. :)

Something I wonder...why can't the HVX record non-HD slo-mo footage off the P2 card onto the DV tape?

'Cause that'd be awesome.

I actually wouldn't be suprised if they released something similar in the next month or 2 to compete with the new Canons.

I find it hard to believe that developed into the HVX.

Oh and I'm not saying they're going to release that same exact camcorder, but I think it will be in the same price range but a good bit better than they originally expected.

im not sure if i get what youre saying, HappyGobo, but i know miniDV will only record 30 frames per second.

Let's hope HVX200 would have it's DVC30ish little brother. It could be something like HVX200 but P2 would be replaced by AVCHD and maybe a bit less manual control? It would of course make true use of AVCHD, unlike Sony is doing.

I think that sounds realistic enough. It wouldn't hurt HVX200s sale but if the AVCHD works it would be a good competitor to Canons new models (especially if it would be a little bit cheaper.) It could be a big player in the indie markets as long as P2 is as expensive as it is now.

Oh, and I would also love that Super8 handle! :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

I don't think it would be a good competator to the new Canon cameras if it didn't have all the manual controlls actually. I mean, G1 and A1 even seem to have more manual control than the XL-H1.

this'll be my first post

I'm curious. Does anyone else think that "Sept 2006" was pretty specific for a project that Panasonic wasn’t committed to? Perhaps that was a misprint, HVX fetus, etc...but I'm hoping it was a visionary stretch-goal that will materialize in a month or two, in some form. I'd love a small, light, 24P cam for documentaries in hi-def. It would be remarkable, but not surprising to me (because I love Panasonic). I don't want a Sony but the Canon A1 seems nice. I hope you read that Panasonic...we could've been together. (The ball's in your court, but I can 't wait forever!)

...and sorry for the prep. at the end of a sentence. I don't know what I was thinking of.
