Cheap shizz!!

Does anyone know where i can buy cheap equipment (not hire) on the internet because i am a 13 year old boy and I have basically no budget. i am looking at the moment for a dolly tracks.

no budget at 13?? man come on!! when I was 13 I was working with budgets well into the thousands..... you need to get your head back in the game bud

He lied. That's how. It was sarcasm. At 13 you shouldn't be thinking about all these super technical stuff imo...trust me, i'm 16. Enjoy your childhood a bit. You can still shoot good stuff without a dolly track. But I would recommend trying a wheelchair. Try getting a secondhand one, preferrably one which someone didn't die in...otherwise you might have a horrorfest entry on your hands. Wheelchairs should be pretty good because they are smooth and stable, and should be pretty cheap secondhand. Oh and its pretty fun too when you're not filming with it. Hope this helps

YOU'RE 16?! How the hell is that possible and yet you "read" (since there is no sound) so mature and you seem to really know what your doing? See, these are the things that piss me off about being 26 and still trying to figure out how to burn a damn dvd:zombie_smiley: :Drogar-Smoke(DBG): .
I concur with Malcolm, wheelchair with no left over DNA of any kind.

Malcolm is right, grab some stuff like wheelchairs... I've been doing this for about 4 years and I still use the ol' wheelchair, and its amazing what you can do! Good luck!

I suppose what i know comes from living and breathing film for the past 6 months(at great cost to my schoolwork i must say).

It's so worth it though, isn't it?

Yeah, definitely. Except for the being broke, and the not meeting girls, and the excruciating pain of seeing your own work after you've shot it thinking that you could have done it differently, etc. I'm living the dream! :Drogar-Love(DBG):

Hey GG, I'm over TWICE Malcom's age and getting into the game now... better late than never I guess... :)
Yea but see... your cool like that.
Your all that and a pound of steak and i'm like this lean cusuine that some fat guy forgot in his fridge because the diet was really his wife's idea... and then the wife, who never does anything around the house, especially the laundry cus i've started substituting all the blues for my whites, comes home late at night drunk and telling me everythings ok as she packs her bags and goes off with some mediocre plastic surgeon from Beverly Hills that hates the dvx,the hvx and just hates digital film and never obseses about it, and then you start to wonder in a soup of paranoia, if this was the reason Mindy left me and could have been avoided had I not gone on to tell her all the possible specs of the RED ONE and the DVX100c, but then she...
Uhhhh... wait... what were we talking about?

Geez... when I was 13, I was mowing lawns, babysitting, and doing construction labor. And I had to walk 12 miles to school, all uphill and in the snow too!

lol... nicely put man! :)

Actually, yeah... I'm taking the plunge here with this contest and saying WTF... I figure this is what I want to do with my life, so I might as get my @$$ in gear... It's weird... all I can think about is what I want to work on next... and then after that... and then after that...

Its always scary when someone much younger than you has that much drive, kudos for trying.
Honestly at this point you probably want to focus more on just getting out there and filming regardless of camera and equipment, just to learn by doing (would have saved myself a lot of trouble by doing that)

As for a dolly, even the pvc dollys may be impractical for what you want to do, as they take some construction, and may require more storage space then you are willing to part with.

Your best bet is a wheelchair the nicer the better, you can usually pick up an old one from a thrift shop for very cheap if need be,
I used one recently filming in the woods where dolly tracks would have taken too much time to set up... Besides my little sister probably wasn't going anywhere that day to start with... Just make sure if you do borrow or liberate one to return it in good condition...

At 13 you may have more disposable income then some of my fellow University students (though what we consider essential others may consider luxury), you're at an advantage, if you really must get a cheap pvc dolley see if someone you know will make one for you, mow some yards, pet sit, sweep yards etc,

How much were you looking to spend?
Take a look at the diy secton for a pvc dolly probably far more economic than anything you'll find online...
