So why did you buy the repacked version of the indian equipment from a american company and not the "original" from india and save some more $$ ?

As far as I know, the products are not repacked from India. It's manufactured and designed in the North America hemisphere. And yes, I did save money. Instead of paying $1,200 or I paid about $600 to $700.

I'm not regretting but it would have been so much nicer if those genuine, non-copy, non-knock off products are even close to professional looking products.

Well, I have to admit that I'm very new to all these equipments so I don't know what the professional equipments look like but from what I've got, it doesn't seem like it...but the price is right. So I couldn't complain....just a lesson.

Is there a reason why no one wants to mention this company by name? I see this every once and a while on DVXuser and I don't really understand the motivation behind it. "I got a (35mm adapter, follow focus, light kit, etc.) from x company whose name I won't reveal and I was very disappointed with the quality/customer service/etc."

Am I forgetting about some internet etiquette protocol or something? Companies improve from listening to negative feedback, and customers make more informed decisions when they know the unadvertised shortcomings of the products they're thinking about buying. It seems like everyone is poised to win when people make honest comments about the products they are using. So why hide the names of these companies?

i agree. if the gear is poor, write a review naming it so we can make an educated decision and not waste our money. I have waster much money on inferior gear ending up buying the expensive stuff, it's expensive because it is good!

Yes, please name those companies!
I just received an Indian-made rails system and a follow focus. They are not bad! The finish is not that great, for instance you have to "loosen up" the pieces so that the tubes will slide in smoothly. And the gear wheel has a plastic connection which can get loose if you force it, but it can be tightened again using an Allen key. I didn't like the whip - it's too "thick". The gearbox itself though runs very smoothly and has surprisingly little play, about 1 to 2 degrees, which is acceptable.
In the past I also bought a windshield, much much cheaper that what you can buy in Germany. I am also happy with it.
Shipping was extremely fast and from what I have read they do honor their return policy. So what can I say? I see no reason not to buy from them... as long as the equipment doesn't have to be very precise.
Which is why I wouldn't buy their DOF adapter. It is probably not total rubbish but it is almost certainly not better than what you could build yourself with the enormous amounts of information which are available on these forums.

Have they improved? What indication would there be that they improved? They're still selling the exact same products... if you want quality in terms of durability and optics... you really have to invest in it.

Well, talking from experience much like Philip, (not me, but Mr Bloom,) i have ran to save from this company and there are pros and cons. I would never buy a DOF ever from them because i know how poor build quality the rest of their gear has been. No offense to them, they are fantastic at communication skills and trying to please but this is the reality. Broken tightening knobs, split carbon rails, and my hands are always black with paint or blood from trying to avoid their sharp corners. With that said, Honestly speaking their basic follow focus works well enough for the price of $199.99 and does the job allowing you spend the money on other things till you can afford a better one. If you like to piece gear together you can get some of their hardware parts and they work just fine, then add other important things from craftsmen such as Zacuto, Redrock, SG Pro, CineMek, Letus etc... Their gear rings are also great, But DOF, Trust me, Don't do it! Build Quality is poor at best!
