cheap event video camera

Anyone have recommendations for a cheap 'event' video camera to compliment footage/interviews with my D7000? This will be used to record longer instructional seminars by a volunteer nonprofit organization. The videos will be used for basic instruction with simple edits.

I'm talking cheaper as it will be coming out of my own pocket, and, obviously I don't want to fry my D7000 recording longer presentations. Thanks for any recommendations.

You might be able to get a Nikon D5300 for that price.

With the hacks from Nikonhackers.com, you can record for 50 minutes in 720P HQ, and 115 minutes in 720P NQ. I've done this a couple times and it didn't fry my camera, it's just extending the record time by lowering the resolution and bit-rate.

Would not get a D90. It's *very old* technology.
