Cheap Crane Mounted Monitor for HMC150???

So I have the new Kessler KC-Lite coming and I need a cheap monitor to compose my shots with...can I use the lcd4video 7 inch monitors this seems like a decent cheap option. I'm a little confused about how I connect these monitors to the HMC150, or if it even works. Do I need some sort of adapter converter from Radio Shack?? I'm hoping to spend less then 500...the smallhd seems really nice but is pricey. I appreciate any input , and sorry in advanced if this is a "stupid" question. Thanks a lot.

Not sure whatthat monitor is like but I bought a cheap 7" VGA monitor for under 475 with shipping off ebay and then hooked it up to the camera using a component to VGA converter. You can also get an HDMI to VGA converter. It has to be a converter. There are hdmi to VGA cables out there but they do not work. I paid $30 for my converter.

I used a low-res dvd portable widescreen dvd player with composite in. It got the job done for framing, but not good for much else.

Just connect it to the Composite (yellow rca) of the HMC? You also have some output settings available for widescreen and on screen displays.

I monitor with 1 - 7" on the jib (non-hd with the composite) and a 19" HDTV via a 50' hdmi if i need it...

My brother shoots with the Canon 7D, and the DSLR guys have been saying a lot of good things about this one:

This monitor has an HDMI input (easy connection to the HMC150), but the resolution is lower than the Marshall. For crane mounted applications, I think that model from Cool LCD might be a good economic choice. You should be able to find many reviews from people using this with the Canon 7D with good results...

I haven't found much on that monitor, looks promising though for something inexpensive?

Can anyone attest?

Avoid the over priced monitors!

Avoid the over priced monitors!

A while back I bought the ProAm jib on eBay. I thought I'd buy the LCD monitor from ProAm as well. Linked here:

Bad choice! I paid $230 for it. Its a P.O.S. It can be powered from either the wall outlet or an EXTERNAL battery pack that takes 10(!) AA batteries. The video it displays is HORRIBLE. You can barely use it to see if your shots are in focus, thats about it.

My solution?

Back in December I found this:

http://www.amazon.com/Viore-PLC7V95...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1263325206&sr=8-1

While it does not have the same type of mounting, the picture it produces is light years ahead of the ProAm. You can figure out a way to mount this to the jib. The battery pack is built in on this one. It also has an ATSC tuner built in so you can pick up local DTV stations.

At $79 its a great deal.

Good luck!

I'm planning to buy the CoolLCD monitor. I've heard it isn't too bad when using the HDMI. I'll let you know once I get one.

anyone know how i could hook up my hvx200 to the coollcd monitor? there is only the component and HDMI connects on the monitor. i called a guy that deals panasonic and says that getting the component cable to convert to HDMI will be expensive.

What is your experience with the KC-lite?
Is the pan & tilt smooth, can be done from the tripod end of the crane, is that correct?
How hard is it to keep it steady, for slow booming shots?
Anyone else any experience with the KC-lite?
