cheap and small support?

Hello,
I have shot several videos with my 550d, but now I'm done with the shakiness especially with longish lens on a crop sensor like 50mm lenses.
If I'm shooting a short or something like that I would use a tripod, a steadicam, a shoulder rig etc...but if I'm out with friends and still wanna make a good video bringing one of those along is not an option!

So I was reading this blog that had that cheap solution to create a bodypod which is definitely what I'm looking for and using this instead of the bigger monopod which is amazing for the low price + dimension and this should add a lot of stability!
Anybody has suggestions for something else or uses that method already? Do you know where to find straps for the monopod?

Thank you.

I can highly recommend this very inexpensive support from Amazon:

I was surprised at how well it works for the price. I am using it with a Canon 60d without the riser pictured in the photo. With the LCD screen flipped out, it works great! You might find that the riser + flat plate helps get your 550d in a better position though. I am even going to fashion a angle step plate to allow me to attach my glidecam 2000 pro to it. It folds very small and would not be too hard to take with you.

Addition:
I should read your initial post more carefully. If you are truly looking for a monopod solution, I have this one and it comes with a zippered case that has a strap. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000092TS9/ref=oss_product The case can be partially zipped thus creating a pocket for the collapsed monopod creating a make-shift bodypod when the strap is over ones shoulder.

I hope this helps.

It helps,
that shoulder support looks nice but I wonder if I would be able to focus correctly only with one hand to hold the support. Maybe it's only useful with a viewfinder?
Anyway yes I'm looking for a monopod, where is the strap is attached on that one you linked? Anyway it looks too long folded, I want something smaller.

I use the shoulder support without a viewfinder and it works nicely. I simple open the 60d screen to the left and it is in perfect position with the Cowboy Studio shoulder support using only the flat plate.

The monopod I linked has a small wrist strap attached near the top. It would certainly require modification to work like the one used in the Cheesy Cam video, unless you just partially zip the case creating a pocket for the monopod bottom as I mentioned before. The case has a strap and if oriented toward the front, it could be used as a make-shift monopod. The collapsed length (roughly 21") if fine for me (I am about 6 feet tall), but you may find that a more compact monopod suits your needs better.
