Cheap 7" LCD Monitor

1440x234? That's incredibly non-standard. I don't know if you can trust an image that out of whack resolution-wise, esp. for focus.

This might be a stupid question, but with the shown "optional XLR power cable", does that mean you can plug this into the camera and switch on the phantom power (like for mics), and then plug the other side into the monitor, and it should work?

XLR power is a 4 pin cable with 12volts. . Big battery packs mostly seen on ENG cameras and other shoulder-fired devices. :)

1440x234 sounds like bs. And that XLR adapter seems to be just that - an XLR to DC jack adapter, not a converter, so you wouldn't be able to plug it into 48v Phantom Power of your DVX. Besides, it's probably 4-pin XLR anyway.
I have a cheap 7" Liliput LCD for framing in Squeeze mode and a rechargeable 12v Li-Ion battery to power it by PolarMate. Works just fine.

The LCD panel is a Panasonic/Matsushita model used in many of the most recent car PC monitors including Xenarc and Lilliput products. The actual Pixel resolution is 800x480. Any other resolution including PAL/NTC video is obtained by interpolation. As far as I know this model does not provide control over black levels and tint, neither has underscan/overscan capabilities. However it may be worth a try for the price.

If you devide the 1440 by 3 you get 480.

Many of these monitor advertize the total number of lines as resolution, counting the red, green, and blue pixels seperatly. You have to combine them to create any single pixel (even in B&W) resulting in a actual resolution of 480 x 234
