Charge for DVD copies?

I have done many projects for clients and have always included a single DVD and just included it in the cost. I now have a client that wants me to make multiple copies and I'm not sure what to charge.

The video production has been paid for already but they want multiple copies of the dvd. They will be printed DVDs with basic design work and their company logo included.

Any suggestions?

You don't need to figure out anything. Get a duplication service to give you a quote, mark it up 30% and get a 50% deposit from the client and the balance on delivery.

Why make something simple, complicated?

Thanks for the advice.

I wasn't trying to make it complicated. It's just that the order is small (under 50 copies) and most places around here want a minimum order higher than that.

I've got it handled now :)

Thanks

what did you end up deciding to charge? I have the same situation coming up soon.. I'm gonna buy cases and print a picture to put in the cover of the dvd case, and my friend says I can buy a printer for like $120 to print graphics on the dvd itself...

So I'm doing this commercial for a company's conference and they want to have about 20 dvds which i'm including in the quote but also want an addition per dvd rate incase they want to order more later.. I know dvd duplication places have large minimum order requirements but it works out pretty cheap per dvd.. however for me I think I would need to be charging like $15-$20 a dvd for it to be worth it.. dont you think? I dunno, what did you decide upon?

I decided on $10 per copy. I bought a printer that prints directly to DVDs/CDs and did some really basic artwork and text. Nothing terribly involved and just delivered in the thin jewel cases.

For me personally, that was worthwhile.

If I had done more involved authoring with chapters/titles/design, I would have charged more than that.
