Chaos on a GH13 set!

Just to take a peek at what I go through on a daily basis, this was a music video shoot that was very rushed, unplanned, and total chaos and fighting broke out between the music / recording studio label and some of the artists because they were rushing. I was director / dp and the only reason I delt with it is because I was VERY well paid / compensated. I managed to calm everyone down, but I told the other studio that next time I do ALL the planning or I won't work with them again, and they agreed. One of the main rappers could NOT get his lip sync right because he had JUST recorded it and is working on 8 projects at once (and the bottle of Hennessey didn't help either) and it was about the 19th take of the last shot of the night and we had to be OUT of the location.

As a joke, I said I had finished the video edit despite all the problems, and I put this up:

This is the final master edit of "In Luv With You" the hot new track from rising stars LiVE & Monsta Villa.

Due to artistic differences, clearance problems, alcoholism, addiction, fraud, thievery, lack of panties, bar fights, and bugetary constraints, some of the video had to be edited for time and censored for respectability and decency laws, however, I am really extrordinarily happy with this final master edit. While a bit on the short side, EVERYONE looks beautiful and we REALLY did pull it off and capture the magic of the 40s speakeasy lounge brought to modern day elegance. Thank you and much love to ALL the cast and crew and enjoy this when it's on MTV. You earned it.

Thought you guys would find it fun.

Thx

I juuuust finished shooting and need to do some pickups. It is looking very beautiful so far, we had a lot of extras dressed up in a "Harlem Nights" meets the lounge scene in "Roger Rabbit" where Jessica Rabbit sings Why Can't You Do Right, Like Some other Men Do. Had dolly, track, full lighting and my full team on this one, but the artist / record label kept changing crap last minute and it was very annoying and time waisting and the clock was a ticking and people were standing around.
I'll probably be finished with the real edit sometime after Sundance.

damn this looks so good i wanna see the whole thing. production value seems really good. is this the same video you were on about months ago that the sync was off because someone on SET changed the BPM of the track? Or is this a new one? if it's a different one, what happened to that other vid, any where we can watch it or did it get scrapped or something?

No, different shoot. We scrapped the first video. This had a lot higher budget but I still was too rushed because of the clients planning and need a lot of pickups.

Here's some slow motion tests mixing full hd 1080 24p footage slowed to about 25% for s strobe effect with upscaled 720 60p footage slowed to 40% (or 60p to 24p) on a 24p 1080 timeline:

Looking nice.. those shots wont be in final video obviously there are some lights in the shot they were just tests....
