Changing your username.

Robbie Comeau

Como's back. back again
I am recently getting a couple of PMS asking how to change your username. And a lot of people are all of a sudden lol, I think bballplaya started it, not to sure though.

Jason Ramsay is the guy to go to I'm pretty sure, he did mine.

Sorry if this is an "illegal" post, because now everyone might PM him.

Just thought I'd let you all know since a lot of people want their "own" name as their dvxuser name.

Thanks.

Finally a joke from Luis that is FUNNY, but not so much on the HATEFUL side.

That was good, if i put a (') would that change things ;)

I just now noticed that under Luis' name it says "furry" while I always assumed it was "funny"...

...hey did I use the " ' " correctly?... and did I also just use the " " "s correctly just now?... and again at the end there?

You come across as sufficiently educated, Matt. I merely corrected Como when he mistakenly thought he had corrected himself. Notice it is the only time I have corrected him, and I do not correct everything he posts. That would be a full time job. He is, however, doing much better than when he started here. I can only hope that with the site's help, he will learn to speak English soon.

I can speak English Devon. So what, missing a (") or a (') makes you guys can't read what I'm writing? Pretty sad...You got to get off my back on the smallest things, like an apostrophe.

PS- how was my grammar here, good? Let me know. Thanks.

I think you're a actually doing very well for a French Canadian.

What annoys me is when people jump on other posters for typing errors. Quickly typing and messing up is not that big of a deal. Not being able to speak discernible English is only something that will hurt you, if you want to speak English. French is a fine alternative. I just find myself spending extra time with my Phantom Decoder Ring when trying to read your posts. If you are comfortable with your language skills, then I will back off and spend the extra time. You have alot of great posts and really useful information and I just don't want to miss any of it or misunderstand it.

PS- how was my grammar here, good? Let me know. Thanks.
You're doing very well. I'm really proud of you.

Uh.... Como.... you just managed to make the PM possessive, you really solved nothing. Put the camera and Now Live microphone down and get your English/Grammar book out. A little more studying, a little less time in forums.

Here you go. Start here.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apostrophe

No need to be so snide- especially when you're incorrect.

The use of an apostrophe is now perfectly acceptable in denoting the plural of some acronyms- particularly where the acronym is composed of capital letters. "ABCs" or "ABC's". Either is fine.

If this were a copy editing forum I can see wanting to hash it all out, but come on...

Copy editing forums sound like fun! Can you direct me to one? Maybe there is someone there who posts off topic and I can learn about filmmaking.

An apostrophe is used by some writers to form a plural for abbreviations, acronyms, and symbols where adding just s rather than 's may leave things ambiguous or inelegant. While British English formerly endorsed the use of such apostrophes after numbers and dates, this usage has now largely been superseded. Some specific cases:
  • It is generally acceptable to use apostrophes to show plurals of single lower-case letters, such as be sure to dot your i's and cross your t's. Some style guides would prefer to use a change of font: dot your is and cross your ts. Upper case letters need no apostrophe when there is no risk of misreading: I got three As in my exams,[20] except possibly at the start of a sentence: A's are the highest marks achievable in these exams.

You are correct! And from my own educational recommendation. I am so embarrassed. I'm beside myself.

I take it back, Como. Keep up the good work. Your English is perfect.

P.S. - How was my grammar here,? Was it good? Let me know. Thanks.

All in good fun of course... :)

Now that Como is fixed, I will start helping the DVX Talk Radio guys. That will be some work. I dont know what they're native language is.

The use of a coma is now perfectly acceptable in denoting what seems to be a question- particularly where the question is a poor attempt to redeem oneself. Either is fine.

Naah, then it should probably be:
So what?, Does missing a (") or an (') makes it too hard for you guys can't to read what I'm writing?
