changing the view through the eyepiece...

Hey guys

I seem to have altered the view through my eyepiece - it has gotten much smaller and tighter.... to the point where im struggling to see it properly!

What button have I accidently pressed?!

It's the dipoter adjustment on the eyepiece. Turn the little ring around the bottom of the eyecup until it's in clear focus for you. Makes it easier for people who need corrective lenses to use the viewfinder.

Its not the focus of the eyepiece, its the actual size of the image.

Originally the image filled the entire screen, now its got a thick frame of black around it, and is much smaller...

Any thoughts?

hit the focus assist button near the ND filter switch. Thats my guess at whats wrong as the focus assist seems to fill the entire EVF screen and when switch back to normal it does shrink with a black border.

But the focus assist I assume turns off when the camera is turned off and turned back on. You've tried turning the camera off and on?

Still suggesting you try the dipoter adjustment if you haven't, it does exactly as you describe, making it smaller or bigger. Not sure of anything else but the focus assist that would change the display like that.

Sorry, but could someone please clarify. Dipoter adjustment, I understand focuses/magnifies the viewfinder, but is there supposed to be a decent thick black border visible in the viewfinder? I am seeing this too and it's a pretty thick border, a little thicker on the bottom.

When I hit the focus assist the border does goes away and the viewfinder is now visible in full screen, however the image is of course zoomed. I have disabled EVF as mentioned in an earlier post.

Is there anyway to accomplish this full screen view without the border in the viewfinder being so zoomed in and having to keep it in focus assist?

Just checking to make sure, you other HMC owners are seeing the same thing? If just looking through your viewfinder has a black border around the entire image?

I honestly don't remember if this is normal and the way my HMC came?

Thanks for any insight!

Perhaps the VF displays the normal image Letterboxed and the magnification takes up the entire screen in there?

Sorry.. Not trying to beat a dead horse and revive an old thread, only to find an answer.

When I press the focus assist, it goes into Expanded mode. It does ditch the letterbox which is what I am trying to accomplish, however, can I turn off the Expanded mode so when focus assist is pressed, it goes to fill the whole screen of the VF but not be so zoomed in?

I reviewed the manual to see if there were any examples or views through the VF that showed what is should look like (Letterbox or Fullscreen) with no luck.

If you (Fellow HMC150 Owners) look through your Viewfinder, do you see letterbox around your picture while using the camera?

Any input or thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Hizzo
