Changing lenses

I have 2 doubts about changing lenses and I have not found anything about this on the user's manual.

1. should I switch off the camera for its safety every time I change a digital lens?

2. If I switch from a manual lens to a supported digital lens, should I switch the camkera off and after switch on to re-boot, so the camera can recognize and correct the lens the lens?

In other terms, what's the correct procedure to switch from a digital to a manual lens and viceversa without risks for the camera and using all the digital functions of the M4/3 lenses?

I've seen that if use a digital lens the camera performs all the controls even if I have not activated 'check lens' in the menu, but I'm not sure that in this way the camera is using the lens in the proper way.

Thank you in advance

Gary you dont really need to turn the camera off. I usually make sure the ND is engaged on 2,3 or 4 so no dust can get on the sensor itself and change the lens. Youll notice that when you press the lens release button the VF or LCD goes black until the lens is clear.

When I go from my Zeiss glass with the Novoflex adapter to the 14-140 I need to turn the check lens on for it to work and vice versa. Interestingly Ive always activated this function and off the top of my head cant recall if my manual lenses operate normally with the "check lens" set to yes.

I believe the sensor and ND's are behind a piece of glass, so it doesn't matter what ND it's set on.

You sure about that? Theres definitely no glass in front of the ND. And when my AF102EN has ND set to 1, the wheel is blank - i.e. nothing.

Well there is the OLFP in front of the sensor, so yeah sensor is probably fine.

The point of my post is to encourage people to heavily protect what lies behind the ND's.

hmmm. To me it looks like there is a shield in from of the ND wheel as well.

OK you made me look again this time pointing a fresnel at it - and sure theres reflection. SO there is a fine glass there that protects everything. I honestly couldnt see it but good to know.

SO lets try that reply to Gary again.

Gary you can swap lenses with the camera on. Id still do it as quickly as possible, as I wouldnt want to be cleaning that fine piece of glass too often.

Thank Noel. I have not noticed that when you press the releas button the monitor switches off and this seems a safety circuit, so it could be possible to change digital lenses while the camera is switched on without switching it off.

But I have another doubt: if you disable the 'check lens' in the menu and after you attach a digital lens on AF-101 you can see that the camera automatically recognizes the lens and you have all the controls on iris, AF etc. But on the manual it is clearly written that you must enable the check lens if you want the full compatibility. So I am a little confused.
