Changing color of Letterbox

[DVX100Shooter]

I know how to change the color of a letterbox from black to whatever. I want to leave one black and change one to gold (represents my fraternity colors) Is there a way to do that?

Work in a 4:3 project and draw on the letterbox manually with your favorate image editing software or titler.

Use a color matte, change the color and size and location to suit.

Like they said- or use the Rectangle shape generator and layer it over your footage. Then crop it. Make one for top and one for bottom.
