Changes on the GY-HD100U for 2006

Does anyone know or have they heard anything about changes to the 2006 GY-HD100U that will be at the NAB. I want to buy one for my production company and I am going to the NAB to do so or to see what will be available later this summer and then purchase if its worth the wait. I am not sure if I should take advantage of the offer extended to the end of March on the IDX deal or not, I would hate to loose out and then be stuck with the higher price, lousy battery and no changes. I know its hard to find out before NAB if anything is going to change, but if anyone knows anything that would be helpful in making my decision it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks GW

To the best of my knowlege, JVC has stated that there will be no additional changes to the JVC 100 (and in fact have not even upgraded the firmware for some time now).

They may or may not change the battery that comes with the camera - a chance that, given the IDX promotion and universally poor reviews of the current battery, seems possible if not likely.

I would be surprised if they change the basic lens option on the camera - the lens, I feel, is actually a pretty good one considering the price ($800ish dollars). However, they may begin to offer the camera in body-only packages - an option that is more attractive now that there is an lens adapter for the camera... Hope this helps a little,

John

JVC is bringing out a new line called ProHD XE. It will likely incorperate variable frame rates and formats.

Thanks it does, I also talk to a JVC REP today he said pretty much the same thing there might be more lenses offered and maybe a film ware update he said the camera is pretty much designed for that. But he says he wont know for sure til a day before the show JVC is very tight about giving out info even to the REP'S, so I will probably buy before the end of march to get the IDX deal if its a film ware update I can always add that to the camera later.
