I enjoyed this one. First off, props to the DP! I thought this looked great. Sounded really good as well.
Acting was decent all around. Looks like Lindsay aka Catherine stole the show. Really good casting there.
My issue is with the story. It was captivating enough to keep me watching so that's a really good thing, not bad at all. I just want to say that up front before nitpicking.
I guess I wanted more show and less tell. Way too much exposition for my liking, and I couldn't buy that two people would just hand themselves over in place of another.
Had you spent a little more time showing us their relationship (the three in the chairs) I might have been able to go with their ultimate sacrifice a little better.
We never got that, so I was left shaking my head. I also had a real hard time believing that a mist bottle would stop someone dead in their tracks during mid swing.
The lead was good, I just found he went on a little too much. If I'm going to care for the characters in turmoil, I need to hear a little more from them.
I did think they were picking who he was going to kill, so that was a nice twist I suppose. But then I just couldn't believe that they would do that. Why?
People will fight tooth and nail to save their own hides, especially when their lives are on the line. Yet they went along with it like sheep.
Maybe if I knew why they cared enough to choose Catherine's life over their own? I don't know.
Big improvements all around though... this came off very pro and I did enjoy it.
Thanks for the support everyone! Just got into our first fest with "CHANCE". Hopefully some of you Toronto DVXusers can come out for a drink or two after the screening.
