CF card questions and advice for AF100 and Ki Pro Mini

I don't know that this is the right place to ask this but I have two questions.

Why are the San Disk 90mbs CF cards so much more expensive than the Lexar ones?

Should I save the money and buy Lexar for our Ki Pro Mini?

The lexars used to be on Aja's approved card list for the mini but were removed because if you power up the mini with the card inserted it can show it is recording when it is actually not. When I bought our Ki Pro I also bought a pair of San Disk 32gb 90mbs cards for like $357. Now I need to get some more cards and they are $217 each. So do I bight the bullet and spend more for the approved ones or risk it and just make sure I don't power up the ki pro with any cards in it? The lexars are only $125 each or $240 a pair.

It sounds like you understand the issues involved, so really you just have to decide if it is worth it to you to take the risk AJA has identified in order to save the money you would save. I personally bought Sandisk cards for my Ki Pro Mini, albeit at a lower price than they are now selling for, at B&H 's recommendation.

For what it's worth, the last time I looked, theSandisk cards were priced substantially lower than the Hoodman and Delkin cards approved by AJA for the Ki Pro Mini.

Yeah I guess I just have to decide if it's worth the $100 to be able to leave the cards in there and the risk that I am not recording when I think I am.

Thanks :) For any sort of higher profile more sensitive shoots I definitely will but this is for less important long form stuff and I always record to the camera cards as well but your suggestion is well noted.

Any updates on when we might see another firmware update?
