Ordering the 5d in a few days, I am thinking of this card:
Transcend 32 GB, 133x High Speed, Compact Flash Memory Card.

anyone have experience with this one, or something similar, 32 gig

Kingston 32GB 133x works fine aswell. Doesn't matter wether you shoot pictures and video mixed up, the card works fine.

Yes, the Kingston 32gb is great. The Ridata 32gb is also good. No problem so far shooting video with it.

I bought 32GB Sandisk Extreme III just because memory card is the last thing you want to get broken. I rather pay 2x what those cheap cards costs to get a little bit faster and the most reliable card.

I have a few of the Sandisc Extreme IV and the company I worked for recently had over 200 of them. They rarely fail, and if they do Sandisc replaces them. Worth the extra change n my opinion.

ditto that. only problem is every time i restarted the camera i got an error message saying to format the card. which i did originally. before i shot a bunch of stills and video. not cool. i sent the card back for a replacement, so here's to hoping it was just a bad card.

Search this forum and DVinfo and you'll find that the Extreme III are NOT reliable for shooting video. Logic of paying more makes you think that is the right decision but you'll regret making that decision once an 8 minute shot freezes and locks up your camera with the Extreme III cards.

The Kingston 32GB 133X cards are much better for video than the Extreme III cards. For photos, the SanDisk are the way to go but avoid them for video.

I have 2TB worth of 5D Mark II video and not one lock-up with the Kingston 133x CF cards. On the other side, I couldn't fill up a SanDisk Extreme III 8GB card without the buffer filling and it locking up the camera.

I just read on another forum that even though you can use a 32 gig card all you get is a max of 4 gigs or 12 minutes, because of the file system, has anyone gotten more and how

When shooting still RAW or JPEG files, the image size varies depending on what you are shooting. The same holds true for shooting the maximum amount of video.

The camera will stop shooting once the file size reaches 3.98GB but the amount of video for that clip can be anywhere from 12 minutes to 14:30 minutes. My experience is that most of my roll-outs are around 14 minutes.

Also take into account that you will only get 30GB of usable space on a 32GB card because of overhead.

So you can roughly factor that each 32GB card will give you 100 minutes of recording time.

so what your saying is one continuous clip of 4 gigs, but starting to roll again will give u up to 100 minutes is different clips,

I think I get what you said.

Yes, you will be able to hit the record button as soon as one clips hit the 3.98GB mark. It starts recording again pretty quickly. There might be about less than 6 seconds in between shots. You can keep doing that until you fill up the card.

Hey guys. Just shot my MonsterFest project ZIMM with the Kingston cards.

I have now shot about 2 terabytes of footage with the Kingston cards and not one lockup-feeze. Not one.

I did speak with a Canon rep and he made a good argument for using UDMA cards when it comes to shooting against gray or light blue backgrounds.
