CF and SD as options for shooting video

I'm looking at getting a 70D and selling my 7D. The 70D uses SD cards and the 7D uses CF. Photography is something I do a lot of but very amateur and from what I know about specs, even relatively middle of the road SD cards can work just fine for standard photography. But it just occurred to me... is SD really at a point of being completely reliable (not counting factors like manufacturing defects, user error) for extended periods of HD video shooting?
Thanks!

I've never had an issue other than user error and disk recovery software usually can fix those too. I used a lot of CF when I was a news photog and I prefer SD at this point because of the cost and form factor.

As far as extended shooting, I usually shoot short clips, but even when I have to run for hours I've never had problems. I stick to known brands and they haven't let me down.

SD cards are a very reliable capture medium and is being used for professional video throughout the world. Most of the photography industry is relying upon them too. Cameras from the C100, to professional ENG cameras use it and it has proven to be dependable, fast, and inexpensive. I wish I had SD cards all my life and in all my cameras!

Like everything in life, there are crappy ones.

Invest in the fastest Lexar, Sandisk, Transcend for insured reliability and future compatability with faster cameras and computers.
