Century Optics Anamorphic Lens 1.33X, originally made for conversion for 4:3 to 16:9 format. Due to the magical qualities of a certain Vitality, it can be used to enable native anamorphic 2.35:1 aspect ratio on the GH-1.

I've modified the adapter to accept 77mm filter threads to increase versatility and usability to include diopters/ close up filters as well as polarizers and a DIY fader via linear and circular polarizers while still keeping to a relatively compact body. Optics are clean with some blemishes. Will include step up rings from 77mm to 52mm for free.

Currently accepting offers, Buy Now Price is at 525 USD if you wanna snap it before someone does, fees includes shipping. Will include tracking number once shipped.

How does an anamorphic work? Do I just attach it to the front of my lenses? And because you have modified it, it will fit any lens with a filter thread up to 77mm (with using step up rings for lens with smaller filter threads? And maybe I have misunderstood this in my other readings about anamorphics, but does the subject have to be a minimum of 10 feet away to be in focus? How does focusing work? Do I need to focus both my lens and the anamorphic? Sorry for all the questions, I am interested in purchasing one, but I'd like to know exactly how it works.

In a nutshell (off the top of my head), anamorphic lenses essentially expand the fov horizontally, while keeping the vertical fov. This works by squeezing in the extra horizontal resolution into an image. This makes said image appear squeezed, which will then (as per normal anamorphic workflow) be post processed to 'unsqueeze' the image to basically, the panoramic like aspect ratio seen in cinemas.

With the GH-13 however, as per Ipowell's post- using his settings would allow the 'unsqeezing' of said image to be automatically processed in camera. Dead simple really!

Yes, it will be able to fit any lens with a filter thread up to 77mm via step up rings.

No, minimum focus is not necessarily at 10ft for all anamorphic adapters. The minimum focus on this adapter would be about 1-2 ft max. This is pretty much the closest focusing anamorphic adapter/attachment I know. This of course is dependent on your attached lens as well. When I tried it on the 14-45mm Panasonic it's minimum focus was 1-2ft.

This is a lens adapter/attachment and as such focusing will be on your own lens. It also allows for auto focusing as well. However, certain anamorphic attachments are in fact lenses with focusing rings. These lenses (iscorama) for example would not allow for auto focusing. I am unfamiliar with the methodology of working with such a lens, their seemingly complex and bulky set up throws me off to be frank.

That's about it, i'm no professional but this much I know. Hope it makes sense to you.

My anamorphic piece is still available and looking for reasonable offers. Thanks!

what makes this different from, say... an iscorama 50 2.8? or a kowa 8Z? It seems to be more of an adapter add-on then a lens itself?

Exactly. This is a focus through adapter, by contrast to an anamorphic lens that has its' own focusing ring.
With this kind of adapters (Century optics or Panasonic LA7200) you get the horizontal expansion of the field of view, a bit of softening due to the extra glass, and nice blue horizontal flares.
What you don't get is the oval bokeh which is a typical characteristic of anamorphic lenses.
The century optics is 1.33x anamorphic factor, the iscorama is 1.5x and the kowa is 2x. Hence, when you "unsqueeze" your footage in post you get a much wider image horizontally, and much narrower vertically. This is another major difference between the lenses that you mention.
And the iscorama is very sharp!

Need to know before making an offer:

-What was the original thread of this anamorphic lens, before you modified it?
-Was the modification that you mentioned an attachment of step up/step down rings?
