Century Optic vs Mini35

Hi yall,
I've been looking into a getting a lens attachment for my dvx100a so I've been reading the forums on the topic for the last couple of days.

My question is the this. How valuable and useful is the Century Optic 1.6x lens attachment. Will it signifigantly decrease the depth of field giving the image that nice 35mm look with the image out of focus in the background? Or do I need to get a mini35 adapter and new lenses to get that affect?

I was also thinking about getting a wide angle lens but I figure the DVX lens is practically already a wide angle.

Any thoughts would really be appreciated.
Thanks a ton,
Justin

I've used the 1.6 once with the hope, as you mentioned, that I could get a shalower DOF. It does help, but even at wide open iris and fully zoomed in, it's no where near the effect you can get with a mini-35 adapter.

Cool, thanks for the heads up.
You wouldn't by chance know where a clip of someone using a 1.6 is on the site do you?
Thanks again,
Justin

Justin- Disjecta uses this lens quite a bit and his films are beautiful. I am not sure how effective it is in shrinking the DOF but if anyone knows, it's him....I'm curious myself.

(Hope you don't mind the plug Disjecta)
