hi, helpful site

thinking of getting a laptop... would use it for some dv editing.. and general computer work. centrino good for dv editing? -1m cache, or P4-3.06ghz(533fsb) or 3.0ghz(800fsb) better?

saw a laptop p4-3.06g 512ram 60hd, and a centrino 1.5g 512ram 60hd, same price $1600,

I don't mind battery life, but worried the p4 would get too hot and noisy from the fan. which one would u get? thx....

Re: centrino and P4

The 3Ghz will be faster. As far as Centrinos go, you really only save on battery power when you have the computer throttle the CPU's speed, thus slowing down your computer for the sake of power savings. I was reviewing a 1.4GHz Centrino and found that it really wasn't much good at editing or other post work until I turned off this throttling feature.

I do know that a 1.4GHz Centrino would be decent to work on regular editing with light fx work (I did some show titles with little issue), but if you're looking for a desktop replacement, maybe the 3GHz would be better.
