Seems thing are on fire all around Austin, yesterday evening took a drive east to Bastrop to see what I could see, pictures can't accurately portray the scale, I was blown away.

Little bit of video:

"The largest and most destructive fire was in Bastrop County, where a blaze burned 14,000 acres and grew to an estimated 16 miles long by the end of the day, said Mark Stanford, fire chief of the Texas Forest Service.

"It's catastrophic," Stanford said of the Bastrop County fire. "It's a major natural disaster." "

Yeah, winds over 35 MPH with humidity below 20%. Fires will be unstoppable.

Feel sorry for the guys living there.

Yea, the weather this summer has been absolutely horrible. We've broken heat records and had over 60 days of 100+ degree F heat (40+ C for our international friends). Yesterday, it FINALLY dropped into the 70's at night.

I really feel sorry for the people in Bastrop.

I was really hoping that TS Lee would veer off to Texas. Instead, it's headed straight for Tennessee (we're already getting constant rain from it). Not that we don't need the rain up here, but Texas needs it much, much more.
