CDD vs. CMOS, HPX170 vs. 5D MII

Interesting; I used to have a deep prejudice over cameras with CMOS chips. Over and over again I have posted impressions of my problems with skew when doing handheld, questionable codec (XDCAM EX), etc...
So, when I had a chance to test the Canon 5D Mark II I wasn't too excited about it. It's not really a "video" camera, it has substantial issues capturing sound, weird ergonomics for handheld, etc... But, at the end I was really surprised by the results.
As others (mostly Philip Bloom) pointed out when you're done with your package the price is close to a HPX170 with a couple of 16gigs cards plus a few other accessories.
I'll not get as far as to affirm that the 5D MII is a perfect Documentary HD camera but the brilliant lower light capacity combined with the beautiful shallow DOF, small size, price and fantastic images makes it a very powerful contender.

There're so many options in the market right now that I feel privileged to have opportunities to test all of these cameras. I'm very impressed by the 5D MII and it changed my mind about these HDSRL.
