i have been trying to use luminance masks to correct for mixed color tempratures. Im using vegas. i have had some success. but vegas's masking is too rough. if you really push it it gets angry.... and you dont like it when it gets angry.

"corrected" or as best i can get before the image degrades.

any suggestions to programs that CC better than vegas?

im trying to get rid of the blue cast in the left side of the face.

Also i would iekto find a way to bring down the over exposed parts without affecting the rest of the gamma.

Hmmm... use multiple layers. Take one layer, correct it so the "blue cast" is gone> lay it on top of the other corrected layer and play with opacity. It could work. You could even blend the top layer so it's only corrected around the blue cast, then leave the rest of that layer untouched.

Just an idea.

The best reasonably affordable CC program I have used and would recommend is Color Finesse. Make sure you're looking at v2, v1 lacked some very crucial features. It can easily do what you're asking.

I don't know anything about Vegas but I know that FCP's 3-way color corrector can also do what you want. Basically you would push the hues towards orange and then use the range limiter to restrict the operation to only blue values. You can feather the selection as well. It's probably perfectly adequate for your needs; maybe Vegas has a similar capability.

Why not try secondary color correction? Set it to a wide range of blue and play with it. Should solve your problem :)

David - why not use luminance masks? They are very useful in CC! I like them anyway. :)
