This is a screen grab of something I'm working on. It's like a Harry Potter parody. The room is supposed to look like it is candle light. I used lighting because the candles alone couldnt light up the room. So please take a little time and play around with this and see what you come up with. I'm waiting to see diff. people's suggestions before i do the color correcting. I tried it and i just couldnt get the look.

Sorry, but it is too bright to look like it was candle lit. There are no shadows at all.

Try to darken the image a little and make it warmer... it is the best you can do.

(Thanks filmjunkie, I think we posted at exactly the same time. I meant "strike that" for my previous post as I just figured it out  )

the frame you posted has some jagged edges. Was this shot interlaced or 24p?
cc done in premiere pro using digital film tools.

I did this not too long ago, and another problem you' re going to have is getting the actual flicker of a candle. You might be able to get a GRAB to look like it was candle-lit, but when you put it in motion and there is no flicker of the flame it will be pretty obvious. Tim.

this is what i came up with using PPro Magic Bullet Editors, Levels.

well u can keyframe the flickering...although it would be quite a bit of work.

The question i have is this. If one was to make a film with all the lighting necessary to achieve the best film look, and one wants a room with basically the look of candle light, lighting the room and flickering. Would one use 3 point lighting still? Is a candle enough light by itself?

You should a light attachted to a flicker box. SO you'll have enough light and still get the candle look.
