CC and Grading AVCHD 1080p footage in CS5. How is it for you?

Is everyone totally confident and happy with their experience in CC / Grading their AVCHD footage in CS5 PPRO?

Are... Levels, 3-way CC, Curves, Fast CC, MB Looks, Colorista II etc...working flawlessly and responsively?

For me its a dire experience ( AVCHD ph 1080p 25 fps) and I am staring down the dreaded "transcode path".

As soon as I transcode...all is fine.

Note : I can edit the AVCHD footage fine...its just the post from thereon.

I may have resolved the issue for myself.

I believe that I was working with the files from a "broken" AVCHD file structure. Not sure why that tripped up PPRO in regard to applied FX but it seemed to.

I sorted the file structure with a proper ingest workflow and all seems to be working fine now.

BTW: I had some tests done with my mts file , by guys in the PPRO forum who advisd they had no issues with it in CS5.

CS5 runs smooth and the other day I tested all the different colour effects. Works almost as good as AE.

Thanx for confirming

FWIW: I found that Colorista II works superbly ...and the bonus was..I discovered considerable abilty to recover "highlight" data with it. eg burnt out / clipped whites.

Came as a very pleasant surprise.

intersting, I've found colorista to be sluggish in PP, ae works great, but colorista is slow and from whAt I read on there website a known issue

odd it's working well for you

The xx.xx.o3 update in PPRO sorted it largely for me.

I'll have to check it out as I am a big fan of colorista for grading

After your post I went back and affirmed what I had said to you. It was great. Responsive, subtle and powerful CCing.

I also checked the website to see if there were any remaining issues with Colorista II. I couldnt find any.

Good luck.
