CBS show "Cold Case" Color Correction...

I am a big fan of CSI, CSI Miami and Cold Case all on CBS...What kind of color correction/enhancement do they use for Cold Case when they show the past? It looks like a new/different technique almost like they deliberately bump up the chroma and over saturate the colors.

The flashbacks on COld Case are done many different ways. Some are shot on 16mm, DV and I think Super-8 (don't quote me on that, but it looked kind of Super-8-ie).

I saw one recent show where all the backgrounds were green and how they did it was slap a green filter on the camera and then add purple (minus green) to the lights for the people so they have normal fleshtones. Very clever.

A good reminder that not all color correction is done in post . . .

Yes agreed, but you don't want to sacrifice a "fat negative" for onlocation CC. If you make a mistake or change your mind and you've cranked your highlights in camera, you wont be able to bring back detail in post.

Theres a time and place for all types of CC ;D

yeah almost like a glow filter applied in AE. although it needs to be a VERY small amount or else it will just look way too blurred.
