has anyone seen the series "Making the Cut" ? Also on CBC. The footage looks very DVX like but every once in a while you get to see a shot with another cameraman and they're using shoulder mount cameras...hmmm

maybe it was just that camera guy who had a dvx or maybe it's hi-def 24p. or maybe it's sd900. hey man, it could be all that!

Anyone catch Pastlife last night? Some interesting camera work there. They mixed regular 60i with 24p...the interviews with the subjects had a very video look and the actual investigation part of it looked much more like film... Some nice shallow depth of field shots also.

Thanks for the reply, yes some of the hypnosis was shot on beta...(DVX was not availble when we first started), but everything else was dvx, we used a cartoni jib which being light was able to be transpaorted to some remote locals.
Any how the next one is in India, which is next week weds at 8 pm on CBC.

Funny thing , to note Canada's national broadcaster the CBC, has a main channel and a ofspin a 24 hour news channel. After the success of Past Life Investigations, I shot a short interview show for them I once agian choose the DVX over shooting Beta, it airs the same time as Past Life, at 8 pm on Weds night. So every CBC channel will be showing a program shot on a DVX100, quite a feat. (and needless to say it looks great) ;D

I saw Past life investigations, at least poart of it, look great really nice work. Is it one every weds night?. I would like to see more.

Saw Past life Investigations last night...Wow great shooting man. The DVX really looked awsome. Low DOF, even in bright light. Great time lapses.

CBC is pretty forward on the whole video thing. Actually my first video series was back in 97 on a CBC series that they used the sony 1000's.. at that time not alot of networks had faith to use a 5000k camera for a series so that was cool.


MAking that cut is interesting, I got the call to work on that but it interfered with my schedule. Interesting thing though is that they knew perfectly well way back then (may I think) that there would be a strike for sure, and that show is gonna be huge. At the time of that meeting though they where planning on shooting Beta, but one of our members here was high up on the production chain and he may of convinced them to try teh DVX out :)

Yes, Making the Cut is indeed shot with the SDX. My counterpart in Canada just mentioned it to me the other day.

Great news on the Past Lifes show. Great work.

It is so amazing to me how many very accomplished shows and films are being done with this little camera. I find myself continually being impressed by you all.
