Great to see this movie getting good reviews. Rottentomatoes.com has seen 75% positive reviews so far, so that's great. This movie was shot completely on the DVX-100 (non-A or B). I haven't seen it yet, but apparently it'll be in LA for a week, so I'll try to catch it then. Just thought I'd share with everybody, it's great to see DVX movies get a release, even better to see them actually well recieved!

I went and saw the movie this evening, the 5:15pm showing in L.A. It was a good flic. I was pretty impressed.

They did it on NO budget. The money spent was on two cameras - they didnt specify, but I assume that was two DVX100s, it was at least one - and two plain tickets to the Philipines. When they got back after 14 days of filming, they eBayed the cams for editing equipment.

I was a little disappointed. The main reason I went - almost the only reason - was to see how DVX blew up to film transfer, but much it turns out they just video projected. No film transfer. It looked great, though. Well, not GREAT, but the quality did not detract at all from the film viewing.

The main, noticable thing was VERY blown highlights. People in white T-shirts being TOTALLY blown out. Many skies were just white, no details at all. Again, it didnt detract form the film, I'm not sure how many "normal" people would notice, it's just that I was there to get an idea of DVX in a large theatre.

The film itself was well written with decent pace and decent acting. It was all shot handheld and was jittery, but not Blair Witch shaky. I didnt ask, but it looked like it was 100% available light, no light kit or even practicals at all, just natural, found light. As such, they handled it well. I couldnt tell if there was any on camera light for fill, but if there was it was there only added light (that I could tell).

Composition left alot to be desired, and 16:9 is much easier to frame than wider ratios, but with the fast pace of the film it didnt detract at all. Just something I noticed.

All in all, it was VERY entertaining, and I think a VERY good lesson in what some talented people with very little money and a DVX can accomplish. Very encouraging.

Just my 2 cents at 3:30am.

Oh, and the filmmakers were really cool guys. Answered alot of questions and were genuinely grateful for everyone turning out for the film. I wish them great success.

I'm very excited to see this. Hope it gets walked to smaller markets like Charlotte or Charleston before it goes to DVD.

Well, if everyone on these boards in L.A. and NYC go and get the word out then there may be a chance.

Attendence this week in those two cities will determine if it gets sent out anywhere else.
