FS7: Catalyst Browse issue

If anyone here is using Catalyst Browse on a regular basis- does it automatically apply the same LUT you used to monitor in camera? Just shot today in SLOG3 and got ready to transcode from 4K to 2K. As soon as I i opened a clip in CB, it was no longer in log. Looks like 709a instead. Can't seem to view a clip or export in Slog 3, only with the LUT applied. I checked a box "grade in log" but nothing changed.

I don't know all the ins and outs, but it is completely possible for Catalyst Browse to get the grading wrong.

You need to go into "View", "Adjust Color" and make sure the source color space correctly matches what you shot in the field. From there, you choose whether to grade in Log or REC709, but if the source color space isn't correctly set, all the transforms will be wrong.

The thing about CB is that it saves the color settings from the last time you used it. I always need to reset/null everything when I bring in a new clip. Then, I can go about manually setting the appropriate gamut and color space.

Got it sorted out, now able to export in log. The source was correct, CB read all the metadata correctly, even had me viewing the footage in 709a as the monitor LUT is set on the camera.

Cuervo is right, CB will remember the last adjustment. With Prepare (paid version) I noticed an issue where if you change the color space you want to work in other menu options may not properly update dynamically to reflect the choices for the color space selected. The work around I found was to either quit the program or browse another XAVC root folder and then select the color space you wanted.

If there are any features/fixes people want to see, I am in touch with the Sony software group directly and can pass it along.
