Yeah I bought catalyst prepare one day too soon. Payed 217 euro. Hope Sony will be nice and add catalyst edit to the package. I'll wait and see the answer from sony helpdesk. I like prepare and could use catalyst edit, it is nice and clean.
Browse is free. I mainly use it to just browse footage (no real work) and it's great for that. Super handy to quickly show people the dailies with the LUTs applied. I like the new interface as well.
At least they added the ability to stitch spanned clips. Back in XDCam Clip Browser, this was a standard feature. catalyst didn't,t have this before, but Prepare did so I was careful not to span clips, not knowing if I could stitch them together in Premiere.
For folks still on FCP7 using XDCAM it seems they have still left out simply unwrapping the BAVC folders into XDCAM-EX MOVs for editing. This is terrible considering that they won't let you download Clip Browser anymore. Really leaves older cameras out in the cold.
If you already had Clip Browser you are OK though.
