Cat Burglar (screen grabs)

Just got my 100a couple days ago.  Went outside and shot randomly for 10 minutes then came inside to whip together a one minute short.  Added creepy green hues.  Turns out it's about a cat burglar busting into an apartment.  Any comments would be appreciated.  This is my first attempt with this 3chip monster.

Re: Cat Burglar (screen grabs)

Wow. Loved all four of the grabs. But I have to say my favorite is definitely numero 2. Very intense. You can even see the sweat running off his forehead.

Very nice color as well. Did you do anything to the grabs in post?

Re: Cat Burglar (screen grabs)

Vasku, gratuluju ke koupi! Skvely 'chnapy'. To je ono - zrovna jsem vymyslel novy cesky slovo! 'Chnap' = 'Grab'.

So that nobody gets offended for the use of a foreign language, I just congratulated Vashi for his purchase, and praised the grabs. And invented a new Czech word.

J.

Very often when a post a reply... for me is like saying the same things as everyone else; just in different words :-/

I like your comp too and definately love the colors. ;)

Re: Cat Burglar (screen grabs)

Some really nice first shots. Great look and framing. Now let's see the video. Come on, don't be shy.

Re: Cat Burglar (screen grabs)

..yes thank you for the nice grabs. a vid would be cool as you cant relaly judge a film off of still frames, but as John H. said it not the usual .. "i just got mine" stuff. which is cool. its nice to see some real content and real subject matter used for a change. first it was cats.. then it was twigs and small portions of plants to get shallow DOF. .. and now for a change youve used an actual person.. weird huh.

Re: Cat Burglar (screen grabs)

I think these are outstanding 'chnaps'.

The extreme closeup is wonderful; so many of us do not understand that with this camera, and the limitations dictated by its fixed lens, that pushing in to the subjects even more than usual is required for that 'extra drama'.

I can't wait to see a clip or two of your video. Your composition is wonderful, exposure and subject material are excellent.

Welcome to the forum, by the way.

Re: Cat Burglar (screen grabs)

Thanks for the positive feedback. As soon as I find a website to upload CAT BURGLAR onto i will. Last night I shot on Santa Monica blvd. from my car with available light and the footage is ridiculously nice. It's going into PICKLEJUICE...a thirty second piece about a guy mad at home because his buddy is late in bringing over the picklejuice he needs...seriously.

Re: Cat Burglar (screen grabs)

These pictures were "alright" I like the eyes pic. The others seemed kinda point and shoot. I would not shoot your dramatic character against stucko. It really defeates the message. Keep it up.

Think Character, in everything you do.

Re: Cat Burglar (screen grabs)

Avatuar,

Just wondering what you thought my message was? Not quite sure how shooting against a stucko wall defeats that message but would really like your take on it.

Curious.

Re: Cat Burglar (screen grabs)

Looks great my friend, I LOVE that second grab, looks absofriggin'lutely amazing.

Re: Cat Burglar (screen grabs)

Don't get me wrong i like ur shots I just felt like the stucko was just not working. I'm one of those artsy obsessive compulsive perfectionists. Everything else looked pretty good
