Cases for Fluorescent Spiral Lamps

I have a bunch of large spiral fluorescent spiral lamp bulbs (11" long x 4" wide) and no easy way to store/transport. I have seen soft bags for them, such as the Westcott LampGuard Case or the Alzo Bulb Case, but there are a couple of problems - they are slightly too small (designed for 10.5" long bulbs) and I am not sure how much protection they provide. I would like something that can provide good protection, is easy to carry (so a simple box with no handle is not ideal) and provides easy access in/out. For now I keep the bulbs in the carton boxes they came in, but it's a royal pain to take them out and put them back in, not easy to carry, and provides minimal protection. What do you use? Thanks!

If you're at all handy, get some PVC pipe larger in diamater than the bulbs, cut it to length, line it with foam, and add a threaded cap to one end. I made three for my RIFAs CFL bulbs, and pack them in a larger case. Splendid protection, and cheap.

Heh, that sounds pretty good! I'm not sure how handy I am though... I certainly don't have any table saws and the like to cut such a large pipe...
