Case for Af-100

Hello.

I just bought a Af-100 and I was wondering about a cheap case to hold pretty much the body and batteries, charger, cards, etc. Maybe 1 lens because I have a case for my lenses.

I'm looking for something cheaper, but I mean I'll spend the money if I have too.

(im sorry if this is a repeat post)

Do you really want to protect $5000 worth of gear with the cheapest thing you can get?

No money spent = the original shipping box.

Have a look at Storm Cases. Same protection as the Pelican cases but with better latches.

My suggestion.... Get a case that is big enough to allow a little expansion when you add more gear such as a monitor, follow focus and the like.

I didn't mean 100 dollar cheap. I just meant that I didn't want to spend 700 when I only need something pretty much for the accessories I mentioned above.

For example: pelican 1510 might be ok for my needs. But I am looking for more examples thanks.

B&W cases or Lowepro if you prefer a softer one. I have a DV4000 when I just need to bring the camera and a couple of things and then I have a B&W 65 for the compete AF gear. Like em both.

My AF100 rides in a repurposed Storm Case iM2750 with padded dividers.

While it may seem like a large case, it just barely holds the basic camera kit.
All my lenses ride separately in their own cases.

AbelCine makes a Universal Compact Cine case which is a proper rigid shipping case. It has a main camera area and an accessories area, plus some specially-sized planks of foam to adjust the space in the camera compartment. The cutout is big enough to hold an AF100 with baseplate riser and even a small lens attached. There is room for additional accessories to be mounted on the camera, and if this in not needed then the planks can be used to adjust the height, width and length of the space to securely hold the camera kit. The case is also big enough to hold other cameras with mounted accessories, including the Sony F3, Sony FS700, Sony FS100, Canon C300, Canon C500, RED EPIC, RED Scarlet, Phantom Miro M320S and numerous other cameras. Yet the case itself is still quite small, essentially a cube about 16x16x16. The idea is for a case that will continue to work for you even as you migrate to new camera models. Price is under $500 and is available exclusively from AbelCine.

I'll ask our Web Team to get it up on the site. Until then I have a crappy phone photo showing an accessorized Miro camera in the case. The Miro is a similar size to the AF100, and it is pictured here with a plank in front of it and another underneath. There's also one that could fit on the side. Note the large bin area for accessories such as batteries and chargers. We like to store these in zippered nylon pencil bags to stay organized. Anything sensitive can be protected in a Domke wrap.

I bought a Thinktank Airport Security V2 - it was expensive but a really good investment - solid well built & holds my AF101/Lenses/Mics/Batteries & HMC150 - and its the max size to get through UK airport restrictions for overhead luggage

That case Mitch proposed would be very strong and durable.

And while I have hard cases like the above, I frequent moisture rich areas at times and like the water proof aspect of the Storm Case for what I do.

Here are a couple of old shots of the 2750 with the top insert in and out.

I won't be flying. Pretty much for storage. Padded or hard. Preferably carry on. But doesn't really matter.

I'd probably spend 500 max on it.

I have the Camrade backpack (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/626104-REG/camRade_TM_HANDY_I_TM_Handy1_travelMate.html) and absolutely love it. It fits my AF 100, 7 lenses, shotgun mic, batteries and charger, 2 led lights and that's just in the inner pouch. Being able to throw it on your back opens up both your hands and arms which allows me to carry my camera, tripod, light kit, and accessories all in one trip. It works as a carry on unless you get one of those super tight plane rides.
