mjjason Well-known member Jun 27, 2007 #2 I tried a magnet and it didn't stick. Im assuming its carbon fiber That was my first guess based on look and feel but I want to be sure before I go back to the seller to change it.

Ted Spencer Veteran Jun 28, 2007 #3 I'm not familiar with the carbon fiber Focus plate (mine's metal), but in general, carbon fiber is *insanely* light. A piece the size of a Focus's tripod plate, sans any metal parts, should weigh about as much as a slice of toast.
