Carnival Row

Started watching Carnival Row on Amazon Prime today. Two episodes in I really like it.
Great production all around.

However, there’s a weird issue, the image is going in and out between looking great and almost log-like. At least faded/low contrast. Never seen that happening before.
I’m using a 4K TV with Apple TV 4K.

Anyone seen the same or know why it might happen?

Haven’t seen that.

But Orlando Bloom can’t carry the lead role at all, IMO.

Jude Law would have been a much better pick.

Orlando Bloom is not a favourite of mine either.
But so far (two episodes in) he doesn’t feel like a burden at least. And I love the setting enough to put up with his shortcomings.

Another actor I feel can’t carry a film/series is Tom Hardy... very evident in the TV series Taboo. A series that could have been brilliant had it had a better lead actor.

Just finished binge-watching season one now. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Fantastic set-design, costumes, acting, great camera work. Can’t really say much bad about it at all except for the weird image problems mentioned in my original post.

Hope there will be a Season 2!

I got to walk through some of the sets in Prague when they were being constructed last year. We were scouting Barandov Studios (where they shot) for a feature, and ultimately couldn’t secure any studio space because they had the whole studio booked out - and until Pinewood’s latest extensions, Barandov was the biggest studios in the world.

Incredible production design. I was blown away. Not just good enough to fool a camera, good enough to fool your eye.

I’m looking forward to checking it out.
