CarMount Test

This morning was like the last. Sitting at my desk drinking the same size, color and tempture drink that I drink every day. A Venti Green tea Frappacino. Starbucks would be proud to call me a regular. I personally call myself an addict. But that is another story. As I sat at my desk I realized, "My God, Is life really this boring?" I grabbed my hat, and threw my soft fluffy coat, and jetted for the door. Ealier I saw out the window. It was grey, dark and I saw the light fluffy breath exiting the children's mouths as they winced across the street to school's playground. I emptied what was left of my starbucks into my mouth. I picked up the CarMount and lifteda bag that contained the only thing that would turn my boredom into something exhilarating. My HVX200! As I opened the door throwing my body outside as the door automatically closed behind me, I realized I had the Starbucks cup in my hand. Sometimes seems glued there. I glance back inside , the door now ahlf way shut I see a trash can. I through with out thinking. The door shuts. "Crap, I hope I made it in the trashcan. Ah who cares, the cat is just as addicted as me."

hahha

I went out today and decieded I really have not seen much, if and carmount footage.
Here are a couple screen grabs. I almost sharrted when something almost devistating happed. I will post more about that soon.

I also should add, my top speed was about 88-95mph, something happened and I had to slow down.....or else I would have been out an HVX

I used to put my DVX on a car mount quite a bit. Low down to the ground like you did here. Until a friend with a really fast car got up to about 110 and I started think about the amount of force being put on the mount at that speed. Ever since then I use a small handy cam if speeds are gonna be above 50 or 60. My HVX was on a car mount but I was too paranoid to mount it down low.

so tell us what happened.

As for what happend: In my Bt mount, I have a place for 6 bolt downs. (2) 5/8 and (4) 1/4"'s. I only did one 5/8", seemed sturdy enough, and no play when I turned to turn it. THEN to add knife wound to injury. I left the hood on :) oh man, Can you say parsail? caught wind, and the speed and force, and one nut on the middle, acted as a hinge. and turnd it. After puling over, and looking, I saw no immediate danger. Put 2 more 1/4 bolts on the BT mounts, and I was good, hot 75ish and I was happy, no issues.

Pics? Okay.... I used my Mother N-laws Crappy SUV, so I would not mess up my hummer !!! :) I did not know the suspension on this SUV, or if it was good, which is was about 50%. Needs a lot, struts, springs, dampeners, and all the mounts and mushings replaced. Sorry I forgot to take a pic of the change up to the lower shot one :(. But easy to go out set up for you , if you want :) LOL

Cynic,

Haha at 80+miles an hour and you see the camera whip like that.. The shot is still hard to watch... Also as for the swivel , I would say just do a remote pan head, and you'll be set, of course have the Marshall in the car :)

Villeluna,

No idea what your question is. Maybe you can clarify?

He means stuff like gravel bits, bugs, other stuff flying on the road could hit the lens while driving and break it, or even hit the camera and break that. A small pebble hitting the camera at 80mph plus extra velocity if it is shot up from the tire straight at the HVX could do serious damage.

hehe It's called a Clear filter :) I would rather crack one of those rather than my actual lens.. :) Sorry this was not a suicide mission. I will mention the body. If you look at one of the pics, you'll see I did as much as I could to protect the body. I actually used Ace Wraps, and double wrapped. :)

A filter on the front should be a necessity at all times...car mounted or not! Much cheaper to replace a $40-50 piece of glass at the local store another thing to replace a full lens block and be without a camera the entire time it's being done....

...just my 1.75 cents after taxes....

Haha,I was joking.. I had a Smiley Face After that sentence:) But seriously Dude a Hummer is onl like 30k. My Enoy new was 30k. I actually went to look at one the other day, but dealers, try to milk ya, and think becasue you can afford a Hummer, that you are willing to pay 10k more than it is worth.. hahah idiots. Which I am not, if he would have accepted my offer I would have drove it off the lot. It was even missing the 3rd row seat and the spare. Dealer saw me under under the Hummer looking for the drain plugs for the oil, and the oil filter, and he was like, you dont need to change it, just bring it in... I am like Sorry we due our own maintenance. He got all pissy... Which was the reason why decline our offer.

Abel: I know what you are saying. But I would rather bust a $150.00 peice of glass, I dont do cheap glass. I want the best quality if I am going to throw another piece of glass on.

If I can get my homie to host. I will throw up a small video of the footage.

I am just taking pics of the screen when I do a shoot now. Helps me from having to write it down over and over again.
