Car Charger?

I'm taking my DVX on a camping trip where the only really reiiable power suply is going to be the 12 volt car cigarette plug. Does any one make a battery charger for the camera that accepts that kind of power? I guess my next option would be to bring a small inverter that could plug in to the cigarette plug. What about a solar powered charger?...

I fould a cheap charger on ebay that is both AC and DC and came with both cables for under $20 shipped. Surprisingly it works quite well, it even has Status lights, Go to ebay and do a quick search. A power inverter would also work well.

Walmart has several (auto area). I bought one for $40 or so. The higher the load rating the higher the price. I can't remember the brand name right now.... I'm drawing a blank. It is red if that helps.

I have used it a ton: to charge the DVX battery, to run the DVX, to run my laptop, etc. I keep that bad boy with my camera gear at all times. Just make sure you get one that has the correct rating. It will say on the package. There are even little example images of what type of equipment/electronics can be used with each one.

EDIT: I'm talking about a DC to AC converter by the way.

It sounds like you just want a DC to AC converter. Any walmart should have one for under $20. Even the smallest one they sell should work to charge the camera batteries, my (DVX100) charger says it only draws 18 watts...

I am wondering how those portable "power pack/chargers" work:

I wonder how much power they could put out and for how long....

It seems like an easy portable power solution - possibly?

There is still a benifit in getting a AC/DC charger like I bought, and that is it will act as a secondary AC charger.

I have one of those 400w power converters as mentioned in a thread above .
I now use it for the Panasonic charger
BUT Ram S.O.S item looks much better.
