capturing with a different camera?

I have a very simple but very important question...

My firewire is broken on my DVX. I just got through with a short film and I'm not able to capture. Can I just use any other miniDV firewire camera to capture all of my DVX footage? The footage is in 24p ADV and I want to be able to edit in true 24p... will I be able to extract the 24p if i used another camera other than the DVX? This info is crucial! thanks guys
 
Yes....just go ahead and use another camera....it's better to do that anyway and save the dvx heads. Btw....my firewire took a dump too.
