I have about 15-20 hours worth of tapes I need to capture, shot 24p. I don't want to spend money on a new camera or tape deck, and a friend just lent me the JVC GR-D90 to capture my footage. Is this is a bad idea? Should I at least try it, could it destroy my tapes possibly. Please advise me, I'm a broke noob who has a chance to do something with his footage, the sooner the better.

It doesn't matter what you capture on as long as it is still mini dv of course. The quality is not affected. it will be captured as it was recorded. hope that helps
