Well i have a dvx100b and i also have a vx2100, regulary i film 16bit audio with both cameras but my vx2100 got reset so the 16bit audio got changed to 12bit audio and i filmed a bunch of footage with 12bit audio. When i go to capture the video with the 12bit audio it says the video/audio may be out of sync. I was wondering how can i capture the 12bit audio without it saying this? what should i change the capture settings to....

device control is set to firewire ntsc
capture/input is set to dv ntsc 48khz

what do i need to change it to? I think 12bit audio is 32khz? I dont see a setting that says that in there.

im using final cut pro 5.0.4

thanks for any help

You need to capture it at the same rate at which is was shot. That means creating a custom capture preset with 32kHz audio. Afterwards, you'll need to convert the audio to 16-bit/48kHz.

thanks yea i couldnt find the setting changer like last time i did it. What should settings be for best quality capture?

ive had settings on frame size 720x480 Aspect ratio ntsc dv (3;2) is this allright? ive been capturing this way and when i watch the dv file it plays in a 640x480 window.
Is ntsc (4:3) aprest ratio 720x480 better quality? i just captured this way the preview in capture wasnt working right but the file plays in quicktime file size 720x540

quicktime settings dv video, iput dvx100b compressor was on something not sure....if it says compressor under quicktime and it didnt say none were my videos being compressed while i was capturing if there was somthing under compressor it settiongs? I hope not then i gotta recapture alot of video files.

Just go into your settings preferences. Duplicate your DV NTSC 48k capture preset, click on Edit, rename it to DV NTSC 32k and you should be able to adjust the audio setting in there. Save it and set your capture to that setting.

yea i did that, thanks though. settings on 720x480 aspect ratio ntsc dv (3:2) is this the highest quality capture settings?

You need to stay at the default DV NTSC aspect ratio when you edit the capture setting. It doesn't get any better quality than that in DV, and you aren't going to a lower-rez codec so you aren't going to lose anything.

ok so capturing 720x480 dv ntsc (3:2) aspect ratio is best quality capture? thanks

anyone? When u capture 24p and 30p in final cut do u have to change the compression to progressive ?

do you have to change the preset dv ntsc preset, if your going to capture 24p footage? Do you have to change it to progressive in edit from interlaced to progressive? what if you dont?
