Capturing using another camcorder

Hi folks,

quick question here, hope you guys have the fact... my DVX's firewire port is having problems, can't capture jack... so at my editor's place we captured my short's 24P footage using his camcorder (interlace only). we don't think there is be any image degradation, and it does not seem to cause any from the naked eye, but I'm not sure. Does any of you know if we can do this without losing any quality?

thx

Hey,

Had the same question so it won't effect the quality of my 24p Advanced footage? My friend says it will degrade the image that it has to be the DVX or another 3CCD camcorder. I don't think so... can you confirm?

The ccd's do not come into play, all you are doing is using the heads to transfer 0's and 1's which is the digital information from the tape to whatever you are capturing to.

Like I said in the other thread -- you just have to make sure the other camera transfers all of the metadata with the footage. Almost any camera will, but there are a few older, super-cheap models which won't.
