Capturing thru A/V input

I have a few vintage VHS tapes I want to burn to DVD. My question is : Are any of the scene or gamma settings available to massage the video as I capture it to my PC? Or should I just use my old Canon ZR for the task.
 
Why don't you try getting one of those Analog to Digital convertors instead of trying to record the VHS on mini dv and then caputring it. Or are you trying to hook up the VCR>minidv AV> firewire out?
 
I have had good results in the past using DV out to captute analogto disk. I was curious as to whether I could massage the video by using the DVX100 scene settings. I'll just use my Canon ZR to do it.
