Capturing Question

Hi
I am thinking about getting a DVX100A or B and had a question about capturing. If I am using the 24p setting. Will I not be able to use my canon elura 2mc to playback into the computer? I don't want to use the playhead on the Panasonic and don't want to have to buy a stand alone player either? Or can I just adjust the setting in Final Cut Pro letting it know it was recorded at 24p? I am currently using Final Cut Pro HD 4.5, has anyone experienced any problems using the DVX100 with this? Thanks
Ben

Most users on this site, myself included, use a cheap mini dv as a capture deck. So your Elura will do the trick.

As far as Final Cut 4.5...I'm a PC user so I'm not sure. Check the specs and see if it has 24p support.

Remember that 24p footage from the DVX100 is recorded at 29.97...it's the NLE that removes the pulldown to give you your original 24 frames. So even if your editor doesn't have 24p support...you can still edit your footage in a 29.97 timeline with excellent results.

You can use any digital camcorder as the tape has 2:3 pull down and you don't require a special deck or the DVX to capture. I use Premier Pro which removes the pulldown if you capture in 24p timeline. FCP will aslo know the type of footage you are capturing although I believe you may have to tell it the specs of the intended import.

You don't need a special rig just a digital camcoder with clean heads.
