Capturing old Hi8 tapes with DVX

Could I hook up a Hi8 camera or a VCR to my DVX and use it to record the footage off of it, effectively transfering it to digital tape so I can then put it on the computer?

Sorry for the dumb questions.
 
Yes, the DVX can record external video input.
If you have a lot of Hi-8 your other option wouold be an inexpensive Digital-8 camera. It takes the same tapes and allows capturing from firewire.
