Capturing Live to FCP on Laptop - FIRST STOP

Make sure your Capture Now is set for the correct number of audio tracks.

Haven't tried it, but does the Flip4Mac WMV9 HD codec work for exporting your DVCPRO-HD files to a PC?

I've solved my live capture problem thanks to Gary at Imagine Products, and now have my laptop finally setup as a capture station with HDLog.

My problem;- and this should be part of an error flight-check - was 'No Communication' between FCP or HDLog and my HVX for the purposes of Live Capture.

I asumed it was camera settings I'd got wrong, but infact I only had a single DVCProHD codec and was missing several others (I've no idea why), including a Quicktime capture codec.

A re-install of just the codecs from my FCP CD and everything is now working as I expected.

And HDLog just trebled in usefullness...

Im going to bump, because my Log & Capture in FCP 5.1 on MBP 2.0ghz stopped working.

It was capturing fine before, i did not touch any of the capture settings in it at all. Its set to non controllable, ive been capturing live in FCP since forever ago, so im pretty experienced in it, i dont know what the problem is. its warning me that my camera is not connected so i hit check again and nothing, unplug and replug back in, nothing.

Its frustrating, because i need to test this and have it 100% working for a live event shooting ill be doing this month. Any help?

I guess i spoke to soon before trying the main thing i always do, and always seems to work before i posted.

But incase anyone has this problem as well, try deleting your FCP preferences folder in user/library/preferences then empty the trash, and relaunch FCP, it solves alot of problems !

Hope that helps! :)

have a good night everyone!

HDLog Silver or Gold can capture clips directly to QT from HVX200 too. Cheaper than FCP, plus an immediate P2 viewer and other nice things...
