Capturing HD

One of three things have happened:
1) People saw this question and said to themselves "Pssshh... this noob doesn't deserve a response because he should know this."
2) Nobody saw this question because nobody has looked at it yet.
3) People have seen my question and simply don't know the answer.
The first one isn't nice but I feel like at least one person fits into that category!!
Does anybody know about this though?

Well, I guess everyone's initial response would be "Why do that when you can import it into FCP the way you are supposed to using Log and Transfer?" P2 workflow exists so you don't have to "capture" anymore.
Otherwise I don't see why you can't simply hit play on the camera and hit capture now with the appropriate capture settings. Then again the question comes up. Why?

Ah I see! Well the thing is my buddy has the HVX200 and he was under the impression that there was some special way to import HD... because he mentioned that you can plug the P2 card directly into most new macbooks... but he wasn't sure what the deal was exactly.
If it's THAT simple... then might I say thank you, and I speak for both me and my buddy when I say, D'Oh!

Put the camera in firewire device PC mode and mount the cards on the desktop. Then use log and transfer in FCP.
